Lady Vikings get no stroll in Park
PARKVILLE -- The last of 19 lead changes went to Park College when sophomore Tenysha Brown banked in a shot from the low blocks with 1:10 remaining for a 60-58 non-conference victory over the visiting Missouri Valley College women's basketball team.
The Lady Vikings went into halftime with a five-point lead, but couldn't shake their hosts. Back-to-back three-pointers by senior Muneerah Williams kept the Lady Pirates close enough to pull out the win at the end. Williams tallied 27 points and Brown had 15 for Park (6-11), which forced 30 Valley turnovers.
The Lady Vikings got 10 points, 14 rebounds and five assists from senior Dana Conyers (33) -- the Heart of America Conference's "player of the week" after averaging 19.6 points, 4.6 boards, 4.7 assists and 2.0 assists as MVC won two out of three games.
Senior Teffany Sample contributed ten points and senior Candice Fields blocked six shots for Valley (9-13), which returns home Thursday for a league clash with Avila.
