Sales tax receipts down for year

The Saline County Commission released information Thursday showing that the county's collected sales tax receipts through the month of October are down from last year.

According to information supplied by Sam Jones, county treasurer, sales tax receipts received in October 2001 totaled $70,841.04. This represents a decrease of about $5,500 from last year when $76,295.01 was received.

For the year to date, the county is about $5,500 behind last year as well. Over the January through October period in 2000, the county had received $758,089.80 in sales tax receipts. So far this year, the county has received $752,609.91.

For all of 2000, the county saw sales tax revenue totaling $904,006.17.
