Citywide cleanup set for next week
Marshallites are asked to take pride in their city next week, and clean out the attic or the garage at the same time.
Municipal Services crews will be picking up additional items including household refuse, discarded furniture and brush and sticks less than 4 inches in diameter during the city's annual Neighborhood Cleanup days Monday, April 15, through Thursday, April 18.
Crews will pick up items left at the curbside by 7 a.m. on assigned days. Ward 1 residents should have items out early Monday, then crews will be canvassing Ward 2 for refuse on Tuesday. Ward 3 and Ward 4 residents may put out items on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.
While city crews will be taking some extra items during the cleanup days, some items such as tires, batteries, used oil, appliances and household hazardous materials including paint will not be picked up.
The city compost area off Route O will also have extended hours next week, staying open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday, April 20.
The compost area offers compost and mulch for use by local residents free of charge and is a drop-off site for yard waste including brush and grass clippings.
Yard waste such as grass clippings and leaves will also be picked up at curbside on the regular schedule next week.
