The group behind the planning and fund-raising for the Nicholas Beazley Aviation Museum has announced plans for a "pre-viewing" of the NB-3 plane purchased earlier this year from an individual in Oklahoma. Believed to be the last example of one of the Marshall-built planes which played a significant role in aviation advances, the NB-3 will be on display along with other items relating to the Nicholas Beazley Aircraft Company during a benefit barbecue fund-raiser from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27. The meal is being sponsored by Excel, Marshall Plaza IGA and McDonald's.
Many of the items to be on display, according to organizers, are one-of-a-kind pieces including a 1936 Mono-Coupe 90A-145 racing plane that will fly into Marshall for the day.
Anyone with items relating to the Nicholas Beazley Company, Marshall Flying School or other aspects of Marshall's aviation history is asked to contact either Larry Morgan at 886-6905 or Bill Riggins at 886-5575.
Tickets for the barbecue are $7 for adults and $4 for youth and can be purchased from Morgan, Gencom Inc., Riggins, Riggins R-Co., Bryan Berlin, Central Missouri AgriService, or Connie Reagles at Court Street Classics on the west side of the Marshall square.
