Marshall Kiwanis Club holds October meeting

The Marshall Kiwanis Club held its regular meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 31, with 17 members present. President Elect Charles Ferguson conducted the meeting and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Jack Lenz offered the prayer. The final report from the Missouri Valley College Rodeo concession stands was presented by Treasurer Marty Smith. The proceeds after expenses were $3,460. These dollars, along with the proceeds from the club’s annual chili supper, will be used for donations to many youth related causes in Marshall and Saline County. State auditor finds evidence of theft in Chariton County Sheriff's Office

According to an audit report released by Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway, evidence suggests approximately $26,000 is missing from a sheriff’s office in a neighboring county. On Wednesday, Nov. 8, Galloway released a report of the Chariton County Sheriff’s Office — the county borders Saline to the northeast. The sheriff initiated the audit after discovering questionable activity, a press release stated. At least $26,000 was allegedly stolen from July 2015 through May 2017...
