Slater City Council approves water rate increase (Local News ~ 01/22/14)
The Slater City Council raised water rates for the first time in 4.5 years at the Tuesday, Jan. 21, meeting. Assistant City Administrator Gene Griffith noted he'd been warning the council this would be needed for close to six months. Rotary Club holds Texas Hold-Em tournament Jan. 24

Commission approves contract with Donnell (Local News ~ 01/22/14)
The Saline County Commission approved a contract between the county, the city of Marshall and Emergency Management Director Russ Donnell for the performance of emergency management duties. The contract, discussed at the Wednesday, Jan. 22, meeting, will cost the county $2,500 a year, plus providing Donnell an office and a vehicle.
