Schools invite parents, friends into cafeterias (Local News ~ 10/17/02)
About 140 adults, besides teachers and other staff members, went through the lunch lines Tuesday at Marshall's elementary schools and Bueker Middle School. The cause for such a lunch line was National School Lunch Week, which the schools are celebrating all week. Coordinated by the American School Food Service Association, National School Lunch Week, Oct. 14-18, brings parents, grandparents and friends into the schools to meet students in their own "work" environment... -

BPW adjusts sewer bill policy in certain cases

Responding to concerns from an area contractor, the Marshall Municipal Utilities Board of Public Works voted Wednesday to create a new construction sewer bill adjustment policy. Commission approves health office contracts

The Saline County Commission approved two contracts for the county health office and a bill for road work at its Thursday meeting. Health Office Administrator Jill Hieronymus presented the contracts to the commission. The first would provide the county with about $6,500 in funding from the state for administration of the immunization action plan. The Bush administration recently approved a regulation, to go into effect in November of this year, which identifies fetuses as "unborn children." As the kids would say - Well, duh! Isn't that like saying that Earth is round? The regulation is said to extend prenatal health benefits to the pre-born poor by allowing states to use the State Children's Health Insurance Program to provide benefits to pregnant mothers, including illegal immigrants. ...
