Well if I new why she was that way it would solve a lot. I have no idea. I always smile and say good morning when doing anything for someone else, guess she was having a bad day. Maybe people in OK are better mannered than here. We have many here that will not say thank you for some favor, but I will say most of the ones that do that are the younger gerneration.

You generalize SheepDip, "always", really? I have nothing against you, I was just wondering why people take umbrance when you open doors for them, and it never happens to me, nor anyone else I know. If it is a regular occurence that people give you a hard time when you open doors for them then just thank God that you are a farmer, and not a Door man. ;)

Okr I don't understand why you always try to find something negative with my post. I was brought up to be a gentleman and always have a smile for someone I meet. My father had a heart attack when I was 16 and I had to run the farm and still am, so I know what a hard time life can be, that is one reason that I always am frienly and smiling when I help someone out. Being a gentleman I woun't tell you what to do with your negative comments, maybe you can figure it out.

SheepDip, I also open doors for ladies, and persist in all the other vintage behaviors I was taught that were considered good manners back in the day. However the reactions to my actions have always been positive, usually a big smile, and a thank you. Could it be that you have a scowl on your face that signals rote behavior rather than personal engagement to those recipients of your largesse? ;)

SHEEPDIP, Thank God there is still a gentleman around, not many men hold a door open for a woman, I want to thank you, it thrills my heart when a door is held open for me, I always remember to say thank you sir, for I do appreciate it. Please don't stop being a gentleman, we have so few around anymore. Don't pay any attention to what was said to you, it was probable a num-skull who has no idea what manners is,

Former Editor I agree the political forum should be use as that is what it if for,but curtesy and good manners are not used today. I got my behind chewed the other day for holding the door for a lady. All we get now is sarcasm and rudeness when something is done that ticks someone else off. I miss the days as a young boy in the 40's when we said yes mam,no sir, thank you and your welcome sadly very few of us pratice good manners any more.

SheepDip one last thing, that I should have said in my last post concerning you. Everyone forgets things that they say, or have written, I for sure know that at my age. So, don't feel bad that you didn't remember something you posted a good while back. If the situation were reversed I might have done the same thing. :)

SheepDip they definitely were your posts even though you deny them. Your statement that you have not posted anything political, on this nor other blogs is also incorrect. I will give you that the last two were posted on the political blog. My bad, and I apologize for that. It was sloppy research on my part. However my point remains correct. You may read your comments yourself. The following link is where I found them....

OK I have never posted anything political on this or any other page. The post you put up under my name are not all mine. I have posted on gun control and drug testing but the last two post you contribit to me are not mine, so I don't know where you got them but not from me. I am not against political posting just think it should be put on the political forum. Maybe we should let Eric decide if the political post should be on the political forum and keep this one for local comments.
Story: Speak Out August 1 to November 1, 2012 (Posted by Oklahoma Reader ~ 08/20/12)
SheepDip sometimes politics creeps back to this forum because the specific topic is one which has a strong local connection, such as the Akin fiasco. You may may wish to consider flagging your own political comments on this blog so that Eric could delete them for you. That would be a nice non-hypocritical start to your campaign to eradicate all politics from this blog. Here are a few political statements with absolutely no local connection that you have posted to get you started. ;) ...

sheepdip, Voluntary submission to a potential employer's physical to determine one's physical suitability for said job requirement is completely different than the government requiring a warrentless, involuntary search of a an applicant to an entitlement. The 4th Ammendment prohibts the government from doing so. See the 4th Amendment for more on this: "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall...

Why would it be unconstitunal to drug test people drawing welfare or disablity? Anyone that is working has to pass a drug test. So why if you get something for nothing shouldn't you have to pass a drug test?

OR I don't think they are a star or planet. The lights just showed up Monday. There is no light in the sky where this is until the sun starts to come over the horizon, so am pretty sure that the light is a reflection of sunlight on some object that is stationary in the sky. The light is in the same spot every day.

They are probably Mars, and Venus Sheepdip. Look sharply you may be able to also see Mercury. I am not sure on that; perhaps some amateur astronomer can give you a more authoritative answer.

Has anyone noticed the two bright lights in the Eastern sky early in the morning. They are not stars because the light doesn't appear until the sun starts to rise. I have noticed them the last week, one is lower in the sky and the other one is a lot higher and off to one side a bit. I watched this morning and they were not there at 3.50 am but as the sun started over the horizon they started to show up and by 4.30 they were really bright. They never move from day to day so must be something...

sheepdip, I didn't write the op ed piece you refer to. If you feel the authors have misrepresented their argument, failed to qualify their thesis, or have questions about any part of their essay then I would recommend you contact the authors and/or the publisher and address your concerns to them. You can contact them at: http://www.aljazeera.com/Services/ArticleTools/SendFeedback.aspx?GUID=2012321910466650 As for me, I have expressed no opinion in the matter.

I see someone wants a set of stop signs on Ellsworth at Vest after another wreck there. We don't need stop signs there we just need people to pay attention to there driving and not run the stop signs on Vest. Inattention, talking on phone or taking picture with your phone while driving etc, is the major cause of most accidents. Did the driver that caused the accident get a ticket, just wondering. Response by Eric Crump/Editor: A city official confirms that a ticket was issued, yes.

Hey you tried sheepdip, kudos to you. Why not keep doing it? At least you will get the satisfaction of aggravating the miscreants. It won't be the same degree of aggravation that would transpire from recieving a ticket, but it helps.

Sheepdip, you, and the rest of, us including the police, may want to consider flashing headlamps, either on, and off, or to high beam when passing motorists whose lights are not on when it is raining. It would be a courteous reminder to those who have simply forgotten to activate head lamps. For those who are unaware that it is a safe driving technique (whether a law or not), it would send an important message. If such folk were faced with a parade of oncoming blinking lights, most would soon...

As I drive around town this morning there are many cars with wipers going and no headlights on. The police meet these cars and just go on, I thought it was the law to turn lights on when wiper were use. I just wonder why they don't stop these cars when they see them. Oh I forgot they would have to get out of the patrol car to write a ticket silly me.

I may be wrong but I think that if it is a red light camera for ticketing that there has to be a sign saying photo enforced or something to that efeect. Response by Eric Crump/Editor: City officials confirm that the equipment on traffic lights are sensors, not cameras.

Eric: When you report a breakin in the country could you be a little more specific on the area that is effected? Not the exact location but the general area like YY and 200th rd. It would be nice for us living in the country to know if these breakins are happining in our local. Thanks Response by Eric Crump/Editor: Good idea. Will do.

sheepdip, gas prices in Marshall were higher loooonng before Murphy's moved in. There are several locally owned stations to look to (all the Quick Runs & Northside). Call those owners and ask them why the prices are so high. I'm still laughing at the answer I was given. Needless to say, the local owners don't get my business. I would rather get robbed by the people I don't know, rather than my neighbors.
Story: Speak Out June 1 to August 31, 2011 (Posted by sheepdip ~ 08/17/11)
Gas will not go down in Marshall because Murphy's will not lower there price. They give a 10 cent discount so there price is actually $3.39. Why is gas at the same station in Columbia (breaktime) 30 cents cheaper than the one here? It is called sock it to us.

Slater, The man with the 300 acres is not alone. More than 90 percent of the soybeans planted in America are sprayed with roundup (or its generic). And a lot of it is done exactly as you describe, especially in no-till, which is how a majority of beans are now planted. It has been this way since 1996. So my point was if RU caused problems, most likely they would have shown up by now. Even before "round up ready" beans, round up was widely used for burn down in no-till as sheepdip said. This...

Smoking Cheetah What the farmer in KC is doing is called burn down. They spray the field in the spring to kill weeds and grass, then plant there crops. They do this when they no till the crop so actually are saving money by not having to work the ground as much. Not sure if they use Roundup for this but the do spray after the corn or beans come up to kill new weeds and grass. Also Roundup do have residual effect for a time after it is sprayed and the have a long lasting mix that will kill weeds...

sheepdip Yes there is a political forum and many of us use it quite frequently. However, with the start of a new Presidential election cycle, the chances of keeping it off the front page of every newspaper in the Country would be pretty slim. I have read the same complaint before in this forum, and low and behold those same folks who complained later plastered this forum with their political opinion. I know, to some folks its not politics if its THEIR opinion. I think perhaps...

sheepdip Actually, the Federal Government is suing Arizona for usurping the Constitution. Articles I and II of the Constitution place all control of our borders and immigration with the Federal Government and the Federal Government only. In addition, the Federal Government has an obligation to ensure the civil rights of all Americans -- and in this case specifically Hispanic Americans living in or traveling through Arizona are protected from draconian, unconstitutional state laws. ...

I see in the KC paper that the Obama adminstration is going to sue to block Arizonia's new immagration law. The reason for this is that Mexico and Latin America nations do not like this law even after polls show 65% of amercian people support this law. It is a sad day when our own polticains but the interest of other nation's above the wishes of our own people.

sheepdip, many of us did pranks or played jokes in our youth, including myself, but I never participated in vandalism. Tampering with locks and tires is a serious thing. One thing I'd like to see these students have to do is write letters of apology to the community and have them be published in the paper. (And on this website, too, Eric, please, if that were to happen) These kids need to understand that they have offended and disappointed many many people. I thought the class of '10 had as...

Why does everyone want charges filed in this case. These kids pulled a stupid prank ok they did not do any damage to the buses just let the air out of the tires. Why make them have a record for a prank. Make them work and pay back the money that it cost to fix the tires and let it go. I am sure, my self included, that most of the people that are calling for charges could not stand a check of there younger days without some prank of some sort in there past

Back when I was a kid we used to pull pranks all the time, takeing down gates, turning over outhouses, etc. Everything wasn't a crime back then. It seems that anything that is done now has to be prosecuted. Why can't they just make them work and pay for the damage and forget about it. It seems people get outraged over nothing anymore. Why is there so much said about the kids and nothing about the driver that has been arrested many times for dwi and no license? To me this is a lot more of a...

ALM I know that things have been this way for the last 69 years, but things change. In my job I take people to Dr.app, shopping etc. It is very difficult to find someone when there is nothing on the mail box to identify who lives where or when they give you there new 911 address and still have the old address on there house. Just saying that if everyone would comply with the regulations it would make things easyer for some of us that don't no were everyone lives

Sheepdip, I think in smaller towns its easier for people to get away with little things like this. My aunt and uncle live in a VERY small rural area in SWMO and have never had their name or address on their mailbox and no one has ever cared. I can still address their mail to them with just Rt. 1 and the name of the town and they get it every time. When you live in a place where everyone knows everyone, things sometimes slip by unnoticed.
