MHS vocal students selected for All-State Choir

On Saturday, Oct. 10, four vocal students from Marshall High School were selected to be members of the 2010 Missouri All-State Choir, MHS Choir Director Ron Sayer announced Monday, Oct. 12. Taylor Witcher, alto; Jacob Phillips and Dylan Fornshell, tenors; and Brandon Pace, bass, were among the 16 students chosen for the choir from students representing the 36 schools in the West Central District, which includes Marshall, Sayer said. To Marshall native Linze Leimkuehler, running is more than just a form of exercise; it's a beloved pastime. "Everyone has a passion for something," she said. "Mine just happens to be running." Just a few days ago, Dr. Michael DeBakey, a pioneer in cardiothoracic surgery, received the Congressional Gold Medal, the nation's highest civilian honor. He adds the medal to a very long list of honors bestowed on him throughout his long career. At the ceremony in the Rotunda of the U.S. Capitol, fellow Texan, Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, said of DeBakey, "(In receiving this award) he joins the company of George Washington, Winston Churchill and Thomas Edison."...

Presiding Commissioner Becky Plattner of Grand Pass announced Tuesday, March 25, that she is seeking the office of lieutenant governor and filed Friday, March 21, to be on the August primary ballot.
