Statue returns home, completes park entrance transformation
(11/07/11) After staff spent a year of planning, searching for a restorer and designing the new entrance to Indian Foothills Park, Marshall's Sister of Liberty statue finally returned home. Final tribal emblem placed on museum's buffalo hide project
(07/08/11) Though the history behind the Sac and Fox Nation's emblem is not well known, their history as a people can be traced back to before the French and Indian War. Adrian Pushetonqua brushes black paint onto a buffalo hide in short strokes, shading in feathers of the eagle that represents his nation. Pushetonqua is the current tribal chairman, as well as an artist, and has come to Van Meter State Park to contribute to a buffalo hide project at the American Indian Cultural Museum...

Park board approves clogged sprinkler solution
(10/07/09) After a lengthy, and dirty, process, the golf course at Indian Foothills Park will finally have cleaner water spraying through its sprinklers. The park receives affluent water, or wastewater, from Marshall Municipal Utilities to water the course. For the past several years, particles in this water -- including things like needles and condoms -- have caused severe blockage in the golf course sprinklers, parks Director Jeff Stubblefield said at the park board meeting Wednesday evening, Oct. 7...
Marshall council approves park board members
(10/06/09) The Marshall City Council raised city license fees and approved two members for the city parks department board at its meeting Monday evening, Oct. 5. Council members approved two ordinances amending city codes. The occupational, or merchant, and cigarette license regulations were amended to increase license fees from $25 to $50. Regulations on the purchase of alcoholic beverages were changed to increase the price of a license to sell liquor by the drink from $375 to $450.
