Chanda Smith-Jones won the judges hearts with her stories of an Ozarks childhood and original songs rooted deeply in her country upbringing. Smith-Jones took first place Wednesday, July 13, in the Texaco Country Showdown at the Saline County Fairground Amphitheatre. Coming in second was local singer Brittni Allison, and placing third was Ben Rogers, of Smithville, who also performed two original songs.
