The first Market on the Square

Perhaps there once were farmers markets held on the Marshall square, but there haven't been in recent memory. But the time seemed right to several volunteers and downtown merchants to resurrect the tradition. On Saturday, Aug. 2, produce sellers set up shop, musicians played and kids frolicked on the square during the first Market on the Square event. Organizers plan two more farmers markets this fall, one Saturday, Sept. 6, and one Saturday, Oct. 4. Their long term goal is to make the event a regular occurence on the square during warm months.
