Dogs get the last splash at 13th annual Doggie Plunge

Dogs of all sizes float, swim, fetch and run free throughout the Marshall Aquatic Center Tuesday, Aug. 28, during the 13th annual Doggie Plunge. Marshall Parks and Recreation Administrative Assistant Linda King said 55 dogs and their owners attended the fun-packed event, with several owners swimming and wading in the pool alongside their four-legged friends. According to King, a total of $376 was raised from the plunge to go toward Friends of Jim the Wonder Dog. Wood & Huston Bank supplied dog leashes to all tail-waggers in attendance. King said aside from having to close down early because of inclement weather, the event was wonderful. “We had to close down early because of the lightning,” she said. “It was like 7 p.m. when we closed. ... But the dogs had fun.”
