Marshall Chamber of Commerce hosted its first Chocolate Fest Friday night, April 11, at Martin Community Center. According to Jill Murray, executive director, there were 72 entries, 100 auction items and 20 vendors for approximately 400 chocolate lovers to gorge on. "We were pleasantly surprised since this was our first year of trying this type of event," Murray said. "I believe the community came forward and let us know they approve and this is what they want to see again next year." However, Murray said, they will work to improve some things next year to make it easier on those involved. Murray said the final figures haven't been calculated yet, but they felt optimistic in surpassing their goal. "Even if we hadn't, the community's overwhelming response was enough to make us realize it is a great event to repeat," Murray said. "A huge thanks goes to all the people who made the event a great success."
