MPL goes Evergreen

Posted Monday, January 28, 2013, at 10:04 PM

The collection of the Marshall Public Library tripled this last weekend, from 40,000 items to 120,000! No, we did not take over all of City Hall nor annex another building.

The Library is one of the founding members of Missouri Evergreen, a consortium of public libraries sharing a common catalog.

This weekend the Lebanon-Laclede County Library became a part of the system, and just like that, their 80,000 items became available to all Marshall Public Library card-holders.

Together with the other members (Grundy County, Poplar Bluff, and Carrollton), there are now almost 250,000 items available for loan.

In order to request an item, go to the catalog at www.marshallmolibrary.org (be certain you are in the Missouri Evergreen catalog and not a specific library by using the drop down menu next to the search button), select what you want to borrow, and place a hold on the item using your library card number and your password.

(If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it--the new password must be at least 7 characters in length, contain at least one letter, and at least one number -- or you can call the library at 886-3391 or come in to get your password).

If you would like individual help with accessing the catalog, getting a password, or putting holds on items, please let us know. One of the staff will be glad to personally show you how to do this.

We have delivery from the other libraries five days a week, so chances are your request (unless it is a new bestseller) will be here within a few days.

For even quicker service, make sure we have your e-mail and you will automatically be notified when the item is received at the Marshall Public Library.

Just a reminder. We are still collecting donated books, magazines, DVDs, and audiobooks for our giant book sale on December 7, 8, and 9.

Call us if you need your donations to be picked-up.
