A friend of mine is in the hospital. When I first went to visit him I told him I would bring him some good books to read. He told me he liked to read books that had been recommended by others and to bring books that I especially liked. So I took A Confederacy of Dunces (my all-time favorite book by John Kennedy Toole) The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak (my second all-time favorite); Deep River: A Memoir of a Missouri Farm, by David Hamilton, and The Warmth of Other Suns: the Epic Story of America's Great Migration, by Isabel Wilkerson.. ...

Audiobooks

June is National Audiobook Month. The Marshall Public Library has over 700 audiobooks, all unabridged. When I asked my assistant Mary how many we had, one of our patrons overheard me and said "Not enough". We do get new books every month and of course as a member of the Missouri consortium of public libraries, which has over 1 million books (including audiobooks) we can borrow just about any audiobook which has ever been published...

Marshall library features quilting resources, new books on bullying

In honor of National Quilting Day, March 16, the Marshall Public Library staff has created a large display of books from its quilting collection, according to a news release from Library Director Wicky Sleight.
