What a busy summer it has been. Fairs, church socials, Committee meeting and dinners, Fund Raisers, Speaking/Listening engagements with special groups, and trying to be at Jefferson City once a week has consumed much of my time. I was appointed by the Speaker of the House, to two Summer Interim Committees: Election Procedures and Emerging Issues in Agriculture Policy.
Veto Session is scheduled for the 2nd week of September. This will give the House and Senate the opportunity to override the Governor's Vetoes on the Bills submitted to him for signing after Session. There has been much discussion and media press on these Vetoes, so I will not recap all of them, but look forward to the overrides. Thank you to all of your calls and emails expressing your feelings on the Veto issues. You can view those Vetoes online at governor.mo.gov/actions.
I have heard from many 48th District constituents in regard to the Missouri Department of Revenue investigation. As you have probably heard, private information (specifically CCW permits) was being collected at the Motor Vehicle License offices and forward to the Federal Homeland Security Agency, which is against Missouri Law. The Governor's Office first said it was not, then later admitted it was. House Speaker Tim Jones appointed the Bipartisan Investigative Committee on Privacy Protection which consisted of state representatives, sheriffs, county prosecuting attorney and retired FBI agent to investigate the DOR. Some of you inferred the investigation was over. Not so. The committee meets again on July 23 from 10 to 4 and July 24 from 9 to 3 in House Hearing Room 3 at the Capitol. It is open to the public. The committee chairman Rep Stanley Cox -- Sedalia, indicated certain DOR employees received a subpoena, but did not show up at the last hearing meeting, stating they were "too busy". Rep Cox expects them to show up on the 23rd and 24th. In addition to this committee House Speaker Tim Jones has appointed a Special Interim Committee on Privacy Protection which consists of state representatives only to investigate the DOR.
Other issues in the 48th District recently that I have been involved with are: The Highway 41 Lamine River Bridge replacement by MODOT and opposition to the plan by local residents; and the Dept of Natural Resources new guidelines for Missouri's small town Waste Water Treatment facilities.

June and I have been working on the 48th District Directory. It is currently in the process of being printed which will take at least 5 weeks for completion and to be sent out. Thank you for the many comments about the Capitol Reports. If you know anyone who would be interested in receiving this report, please have them contact our office 573 751-0169 or by e-mail Dave.Muntzel@house.mo.gov.
I am honored to serve as your Representative in the Missouri House of Representatives. I want to again thank all of those who have helped me this past year. It would have been very difficult and maybe unsuccessful without your prayers and support. It is my pleasure to represent you in the days to come. I ask daily for the Lord's guidance in my decisions.
