The 97th General Assembly finished up May 17th since then, I have enjoyed being able to spend time with my family, friends and attending speaking engagements. Ann and I celebrated our 40th Wedding Anniversary on May 26th.
My summer schedule is filling up fast. Veto session is scheduled for September 11th.
I will be in my Capitol office once a week during the interim. My office at the Capitol will be open from 7:00 -- 5:00 Monday through Friday year round.
I am so fortunate to have June Cardwell as my Legislative Assistant. Many of you have met her at the Capitol or talked to her by phone. Please feel free to call or email if you have any concerns or questions.
We do read every e-mail and try to respond in order to help. If you ever are around Jefferson City at any time during the year, please feel free to visit my Capitol Office, Room 201E.
I had planned to release a report last week listing approved bills, but with News Media and other Capitol Reports, it would be redundant plus the final list is now released. You may view these bills at www.house.mo.gov, under Bill Information click on Bill Tracking and then click on Bills Truly Agreed and Finally Passed.
I campaigned for the 48th District House Seat to: Support 2nd Amendment Rights, promote pro life issues, cut taxes, control spending, help preserve family farms, and help cut "red tape" on small business. Bills were addressed on all of these issues. Because of this, I feel my first year was successful. Many people ask me questions like; "Is it what you expected", or "Is it interesting"? Answer: Yes, Yes, and more.
The most important part is I feel I am making a difference by using "Common Sense" in my voting decisions. Other comments are about the lobbyists like, "Do they bother you a lot, or Don't you wish they were banned from the Capitol". My feelings are I use them as an informative source.
Before I vote on an issue, I want to know both sides of the issue, then vote my conscience and what is best for my constituents. I need all the FACTS. As to bother, yes they do contact the representatives a lot, just as many constituents contact me with their views and facts but that is part of the process.
You elected me and put your TRUST in me to use my best judgment and common sense and that is what my intentions continue to be.
As Abe Lincoln once said, "You can not please all the people all the time": but your thoughts and information is always welcome.
June and I are working on the 48th District Directory. Key information to be included is still arriving, so be watching for it this summer.
Thank you for the many comments about the Capitol Reports. If you know anyone who would be interested in receiving this report, please have them contact our office 573 751-0169 or by e-mail Dave.Muntzel@house.mo.gov.
I am honored to serve as your Representative in the Missouri House of Representatives. I want to again thank all of those who have helped me this past year. It would have been very difficult and maybe unsuccessful without your prayers and support. It is my pleasure to represent you in the days to come. I ask daily for the Lord's guidance in my decisions.
