I don't know about anyone else, but this crazy weather makes me want racing season to be here that much faster.
As temperatures drop and the snow flies, nothing makes me want to hit the track more. I am champing at the bit to feel warm temperatures accompanied with dirt flying fun and weekly racing series. So let me fill you in when local tracks in this area begin their regular season. Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex provides a night full of micro-sprint racing on a 1/6-mile oval, medium-banked, clay-surfaced track that has 60-foot-wide turns allowing for two-, three- and even four-car wide racing. Its regular season starts Friday, May 2, and continues to run every Saturday night after that. For more information, visit www.sweetspringsraceway.com. L A Raceway in LaMonte provides a night of racing entertainment in the country. The 3/8-mile dirt oval allows several classes of hard-hitting drivers to make a night of racing the show to see. The season kicks off Friday, April 11, with modifieds, 305 sprints, late models, hobby stocks and street stocks taking the track every Friday night throughout the season. For more information, visit www.laraceway.com. Central Missouri Speedway, just north of Warrensburg, takes Saturday night racing to the next level as street stocks, late models, modifieds and B modifieds take the track every night beginning April 26. This track is a 3/8-mile high banked clay track. For more information, visit www.centralmissourispeedway.net. I-70 Speedway (dirt track) kicks its season off Friday, April 4, and provides racing events throughout the summer on Friday and Saturday nights on a 3/8-mile dirt oval track. For more information, visit www.i70dirt.info/index.html. 24 Raceway in Moberly brings Monday night of hobby stock and A- and B-modified racing to race fans.
