The definition of a weekendPosted Friday, December 28, 2012, at 5:01 PM
It's funny how the definition of the weekend changes as you get older. When you're a child, its a reprieve from school work and a time to do nothing. As an adult, there are (it seems) countless things to be accomplished on the weekend that the work week doesn't allow for.
Starting at five o'clock today, I have a completely open weekend and I am extremely excited. Other than some errands on Saturday (bill paying, going to the bank, etc.), I don't have anywhere I need to be or anything that absolutely has to be done.
Not that long ago, I would look at a weekend like this as ample opportunity to sleep as much as possible and do as little as I could manage. However, I am still not completely unpacked in my house, I need to do some basic housekeeping, I hope to workout and I have curtains that aren't going to hang themselves.
Odd, how quickly my "empty weekend" is no longer filled with nothingness.
I am going to go to the Y tonight, and hopefully over the next two days, and try some workouts I've found on Pinterest.
Tonight, I am going to start pushup and squat challenges. I realize I'm not on the correct day it has listed, but what does that matter? Thirty-one days is 31 days.
I will also be walking/running at least two miles. I love running and once completed a half marathon, but I just haven't made the time for it like I should.
I also want to try a kettlebell workout I've found. I've never done one before, but I hear great things.
Something went horribly wrong when mixing up the ranch dressing yesterday. I don't know what, but it did not taste right. I put it in the fridge and need to check on it to see if it set up a bit. It was very runny.
The tacos were amazing, but ridiculously messy. Fair warning. I still need to filter my coffee (haven't had time), but the ice cubes set up nicely.
This weekend, I think I am going to try my hand at some different recipes on my Pinterest board, but I am just not sure what I want yet.
Wishing everyone a productive (or relaxing, up to you) weekend.
