You want stories about gas prices? I got your stories right here.Posted Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at 4:18 PM
May 30, 2008 -- Gas prices are up and we don't like it, even though it happens about this time every year.
Aug. 7, 2008 -- Gas prices are coming down and we like it.
Oct. 6, 2008 -- Gas prices are coming down further. We really like that.
Oct. 13, 2008 -- Gas prices are coming down even further. Alert the media -- we like this!
Halloween 2008 -- Gas prices are down yet again, an early Christmas present.
Nov. 22, 2008 -- Gas is practically free now and we're starting to get nervous.
And then, an ominous silence. But not for long...
June 17, 2009 -- Here we go again!
Dec. 2, 2010 -- Does anyone see a pattern here?
The story in a nutshell:
Gas prices go up, then they go down. Then they go up again, then they go down again. Is there a reason? Sure. In fact, there are lots of reasons. Pick your personal favorite and enjoy it while you can. Because here's the truest fact of all: We can fight about why gas prices go up and down and who is responsible until we are blue in the face...or until we run out of gas, both actually and figuratively. And unless we pick up the pace considerably on developing alternate forms of energy, when the gas actually does run out, which won't be all that long now, we can all sit here and argue yet again about whose fault it was. We won't know if we're blue in the face, though, because by then all the lights will be out and we will arguing in the dark.
