View from the Capitol: Farewell to Saline, other counties not in the new 4th DistrictPosted Friday, November 23, 2012, at 12:21 PM
As we celebrated Thanksgiving, I said a prayer of thanks for many things: family, friends, health, our military, another year of God's faithfulness on the farm despite the drought, and the privilege of living in the greatest country on earth. One of the greatest blessings I gave thanks for is the honor of representing the good people of Missouri's Fourth Congressional District in our Nation's Capital. I consider it such a privilege to get to fight for each of you and I thank you for this opportunity to serve you.
As I look ahead to continuing to represent Missouri's Fourth District in January, I want to welcome citizens of five new counties I will have the honor of serving in Congress: Audrain, Boone, Cooper, Howard, and Randolph. At the same time, I will miss serving those of you in Ray, Lafayette, Saline, Cole, and parts of Polk, Camden, Webster, and Jackson Counties who now find yourselves in different congressional districts due to redistricting. I have been honored to serve you in the U.S. House of Representatives for the past two years and I will miss you. Thank you for the privilege of these past 24 months.
Congressional redistricting brought about these changes and is a process that occurs every decade, according to our Constitution, to ensure each Congressman and Congresswoman represents approximately the same number of American citizens. And, while some of you reading this newsletter will soon reside in other districts, rest assured I will continue to represent you through January 3, 2013, which is when the change takes effect.
It is my commitment to do everything we can to help serve the people of the Fourth District now and after the transition. Staff members who are working on cases of citizens who will be in a new congressional districts at the start of the new year involving the VA, Medicare, taxes, immigration or any other matters of importance to you will do their best to resolve these cases by year's end.
Sometimes this casework takes a long time to complete and the work might not be finished in time for the change. In the event it appears a case cannot be completed by January 3rd, you will be contacted by a member of my staff to discuss transferring your case to the Congressional office representing you in 2013. We will do all we can to make this transfer an easy one. If you are not sure whether I or someone else will represent you under the new boundaries, give one of our offices a call and we will be happy to supply you with that information.
If you have any questions about redistricting or other concerns please do not hesitate to contact our offices in Washington (202-225-2876), Jefferson City (573-634-4884), Harrisonville (816-884-3411), Lebanon (417-532-5582) or Sedalia (573-634-4884). As Cole County will no longer be part of the Fourth District, our office in Jefferson City will be closing at year's end and replaced with our Boone County office to allow us to serve citizens living in the Columbia area. I'll have more on the move in a future newsletter.

Im glad to see we have Mr. Cleaver representing our district.
I am no fan of Vicky and her politics, but I hope she and her constituents have a good, fruitful relationship.
Sorry I won't be able to vote against your continued poor service to your district.
Don't let the door hit you on the way out. I sure miss Ike! I really feel sorry for many of my family members who are still within her district. They will not be represented well in their gerrymandered district!

I want to wish you good luck in your future endeavors, and by that I mean, of course, your future after you get kicked to the curb in 2014.
Yes, I am referring to your future struggle with the nervous breakdown you are clearly headed for when you finally admit you have a problem and begin to do something about it.
Mental illness is an area that you and the Republican Party have worked hard to ignore, and I predict, based upon a number of statements you have made over the last couple of years, that you will soon be shopping around for a good psychiatrist and a good mental hospital that has an in-patient therapy designed especially for teaparty crazies -- in order to deal with your obvious deteriorating mental health.
I want to wish you the best of luck in solving your current emotional disturbances/disorders as well as the mental health impact being voted out of Congress in 2014 will undoubtedly have upon your already, apparently severe emotional challenges.
And remember Vickster, good mental health is something you do 1 day at a time.
