FAMily events are the best events

Posted Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at 4:12 PM

We have lots of great events in this county. Some of them include food. Some of them include music. Some of them include art. Some of them include a combination of the three. But the best events -- in my view -- are FAMily events.

Food.
Art.
Music.
Together.

Each makes life better. When you have all three in the same place at the same time, life is really good.

(Warning: Shameless promotion coming.)*

The Italian Dinner and a Show Friday, Oct. 29, at Marshall High School, sponsored by Marshall Cultural Council, is a FAMily event.

MCC Treasurer and Head Chef Pat Nolan will be in charge of the kitchen.

Music will be provided by the Sedville Jazz Combo, featuring Charles Ferguson; the Missouri Valley College Big Band, directed by Garry Anders; Everest Ruin, featuring Josh King; and the SPACEMEN, members of the Saline Performance & Arts Center for Education weekly jam session.

Artists will include Adam Arth, Nicole Benner, Ben Wilson, Casey Zimmerman and students Allyson Cain, Trenton Hart, Norreisha Gorham and Daniel Franco Perez.

As Marshall Cultural Council continues to grow, our goal is to make all events FAMily events. And all year we'll be building toward the first Bob James Jazz Festival, May 21, which will certainly qualify.

Dinner tickets are still available at The Marshall Democrat-News office or at the website below.

SPACEMEN perform on a float in the Missouri Valley College Homecoming Parade Saturday, Oct. 23, giving a glimpse of the music to be found at the MCC fundraising dinner Friday evening.

Sounds like an awesome event, and I wish I could be there!

Instead, I'll send good wishes from Wisconsin - enjoy!

If I was there I would be there. Good luck.

In the absence of calamity I will be there may 21st.
