Out of the Inbox: Gentlemen, start your feetPosted Monday, April 5, 2010, at 5:32 PM
Like most everybody these days, I get a lot of junk -- paper and digital -- and what the spam filters don't catch, I have to wade through. Annoying. But just about every day there's a few items of some interest amid the clutter. And since I have been so delinquent in my blog-posting duties, I thought sharing things now and then might be worth doing.
Today, I received a fax from Missouri News Service with a notice from the American Heart Association about the annual National Start Working Day. It's April 7, so we all have time to find our walkin' shoes and do some stretches.
The idea, according to the news release, is to get people walking for 30 minutes a day.
I also got a message on the same subject in email from the AHA. In it, are suggestions:
I like walking, myself. It's good exercise. It's relaxing. You're going slow, so you see more of the world. That's my only complaint, really. It's slow. I'm too impatient to walk very regularly. But sort of wish I'd get in the habit. It's a nice break in the middle of a stressful day.
Not everybody has handy a good place to walk, of course. Those of us who do probably should take advantage of the situation more than we do.
