Volunteer Spotlight--The Saline Animal League

The Saline Animal League has been in existence since 1997, and have been volunteering time, energy and many, many dollars to the Marshall Animal Shelter ever since. The SAL works in very close partnership with Shelter staff and the City of Marshall, coordinating and funding all of our veterinary needs including spays/neuters, immunizations, worming, medicine and general vet care. The SAL also does the amazing feat of packing their little white van full of dogs and cats and hauling them to Kansas City area PetSmart stores every Saturday for adoption. In 2011, 40% of the adoptions from the Marshall Animal Shelter occurred through this program. It is no exaggeration to say that a huge number of dogs and cats owe their lives to the SAL and the efforts this organization makes on their behalf. The Saline Animal League meets at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month at the Marshall Public Library. Anyone who cares about animals is welcome to attend.
