James 4:8 says, "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you." Who draws first? You do.
You determine the level of your relationship with God ... not God. In fact, God is more passionate about drawing near to you than you are to him ... He is jealous for you! (James 4:5)
A few years ago the Holy Spirit spoke to me and said, "Son, did I not say 'pray without ceasing?’" And I said, "Yes, Lord." He asked, "Is prayer a monologue or a dialogue?" I responded, "Well, it's a dialogue." He said, "Yes that's right; it's a two-way conversation. So if I said 'pray without ceasing' that means I am willing to communicate with you without ceasing!" I immediately experienced personal revelation about my prayer life!
When you want to communicate with somebody that much, it means you're in hot pursuit of them. God created you to have intimacy with him. He did not put Adam in the garden to have a worldwide ministry or to build bridges and skyscrapers. God put Adam in the garden to have intimacy with him.
As a result of your intimacy with God, you will have a fulfilled life. I know inside of you is a longing for deep intimacy with the living God and until you walk in the intimacy he offers, you will never be satisfied.
I urge you, draw near to God because he promises to draw near to you.
