Summer Reading to start June 2

Posted Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at 4:13 PM

What a wonderful time the staff and I had presenting our Summer Reading skit at the elementary schools!

It's so much fun to tickle the children's funny bones. Yes, it's Summer Reading time and our 2012 kick-off event is Saturday, June 2, at 10 a.m. with the Parasol Puppets, who will present DREAM BIG -- Be A Puppeteer!

Readers of all ages will have the chance to "Dream Big" at the library this summer.

After the kick-off, our Summer Reading events will take place on Thursdays at 6 p.m. (Please note that this will replace the regularly scheduled 7p.m. story time on Thursdays.)

And it's all free fun, which is top news for parents! Summer Reading is just one of many exciting ways public libraries are helping children love reading, gain confidence and new skills.

New materials
Fiction
--"The Sins of the Father" by Jeffrey Archer (historical)
--"Killing Floor" by Lee Child (thriller)
--"Fifty Shades of Grey" by EL James (romance)
-- "The Body in the Boudoir" by Katherine Hall Page (mystery)
-- "My Stubborn Heart" by Becky Wade (inspirational).

Non-Fiction
--"Empire of Shadows" by George Black
--"Plain Wisdom" by Cindy Woodsmall.
