Hello Readers: Just wanted to stop by and give you a little entertainment to break up the monotony of the week. I know it has been a few months since I posted my blog, hope that you enjoy and I will see you in about a week with the answers.

WHAT OR WHO AM I?

I dig out tiny caves, and store gold and silver in them. I also build bridges of silver and make crowns of gold. They are the smallest you could imagine. Sooner or later everybody needs my help, yet many people are afraid to let me help them. Who am I?

There is a common English word that is nine letters long. Each time you remove a letter from it, it still remains an English word - from nine letters right down to a single letter. What is the original word, and what are the words that it becomes after removing one letter at a time?
