Among those who believe her claims are: CNN's Lou Dobbs, Liz Cheney, talk show hosts Rush Limbaugh and Michael Reagan and they take these false accusations as truth. Former presidential candidate Alan Keyes and others have pushed the argument in court.
Rep. Bill Posey (R-FL), is the lead sponsor of the "Birther Bill"' co-sponsors include: Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Dan Burton (R-IN), John Culberson (R-TX), Bob Goodlatte (R-VA), Randy Neugebauer (R-TX), and Ted Poe (R-TX), Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK), House GOP Vice-Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA), a member of the leadership, was saying she wanted to see the documents
Rep. Roy Blunt (and candidate for US Senate) had this to say when a reporter asked him about the birther conspiracy a couple of days ago. Congressman Blunt clearly states the birther conspiracy theorists have a legitimate question. He also says that he doesn't believe Obama has produced his birth certificate. The exchange went like this:
"BLUNT: What I don't know is why the President can't produce a birth certificate. I don't know anybody else that can't produce one. And I think that's a legitimate question. No health records, no birth certificate.
STARK: He's produced a certificate of live birth, right?
BLUNT: Not that I -- I don't believe so.
STARK: No, he has. Chris Matthews held it up on "Hardball" the other night.
BLUNT: Talk to Chris Matthews."
Blunt spokesman Rich Chrismer made this comment regarding his remarks: "We encourage this blog to release the video of the entire interview instead of only the edited version which take his comments completely out of context." GOP Rep. Eric Cantor says he's no birther and has no questions about Obama's citizenship. He blames the controversy on Chris Matthews, MSNBC, lefty news outlets and bloggers. Of course, it's all a vast left wing media conspiracy! How could we be so blind?
Former U.S. Senator Jack Danforth said: "He's a legitimate president. I respect him as the President of the United States. When Danforth was asked about Congressman Roy Blunt's question about Obama's birth certificate, he replied, "It's an issue that's eluded me."
Less than half of Republicans believe that Barack Obama was born in the United States of America, a new public opinion poll finds. Only 42 percent of Republican respondents in a Research 2000 survey said they thought Obama was a natural born citizen; 28 percent said they did not believe Obama was born in the United States; 30 percent said they were not sure. Almost 60% of this nations Republicans don't think/know if their President is qualified to hold office!?
The MO Legislature also has its fair share of politicians anxious to make the most out of these accusations. Below is a partial list of General Assembly members (and postions they hold) that attended or voiced support for Orly Taitz' informational meetings' which were held July 1st in St. Charles and Jefferson City:
Sen. Jim Lembke
Taitz says Lembke has been "very supportive," and he sent an aide to the event in St. Charles.
Rep. Tim Jones
Jones is a plaintiff in Taitz' legal actions against Obama.
Rep. Ed Emery
Emery attended the 'birthers' meeting in Jefferson City.
Rep. Mike McGhee
McGhee confirmed his intention to attend one of the Taitz events, and was a co-sponsor of the birthers' proposed constitutional amendment.
Rep. Robert Cooper
Cooper was the chief sponsor of the birthers' proposed constitutional amendment, later He was mentioned by name as a fellow believer at the event in Jefferson City.
Rep. Casey Guernsey
Guernsey is a plaintiff in Taitz' legal actions against Obama.
Rep. Cynthia Davis
Davis is a plaintiff in Taitz' legal actions against Obama, and attended the meeting in St. Charles
Davis, who serves as the chairwoman of the Missouri House Special Standing Committee on Children and Families and Interim Committee on Poverty, made headlines earlier this summer when she questioned a program providing "food during the summer for thousands of low income Missouri children who rely on the school cafeteria for free or reduced-price meals during the regular school year." (A report by Feeding America found that one in five Missouri children currently lives with hunger) She went on to questioned whether the program is "warranted," and extolled the hidden benefits of child hunger:
"Who's buying dinner? Who is getting paid to serve the meal? Churches and other non-profits can do this at no cost to the taxpayer if it is warranted. [...] Bigger governmental programs take away our connectedness to the human family, our brotherhood and our need for one another. [...] Anyone under 18 can be eligible? Can't they get a job during the summer by the time they are 16? Hunger can be a positive motivator. What is wrong with the idea of getting a job so you can get better meals? Tip: If you work for McDonald's, they will feed you for free during your break. [...]" She also claims childhood obesity as another reason to question the need of this program, "The problem of childhood obesity has been cited as one of the most rapidly growing health problems in America. People who are struggling with lack of food usually do not have an obesity problem."
Makes me proud to know that someone with this much knowledge & insight is heading up committee's relating to children, families, poverty and still has time to sue the President of the United States. It is a relief to know that all these problems have been addressed and corrected. I might worry if there were any critical issues (i.e. health care, education, defense, immigration) that needed fixing. It is comforting to know our elected officials have their priorities in the proper order.

As you know I lean way to the left, but I would vote for a right wing demagogue if I was certain that he was an absolutely genuine anticorporatist. To me the corporatocracy has a strangle hold on our country, and we the people will never experience the intended republican democracy again until that strangle hold is broken.
Obama didn't spend a million dollars on legal maneuvers hiding his records to prove that Hawaii is a state. He didn't sign an Executive order sealing these records to prove that Hawaii is a state. He did these things because he undoubtedly has something to hide from the American people.
I'm not from Hawaii and never been to Hawaii, yet I have no doubts that Hawaii is a 'part' of the United States. I think it is sad that believers, Obamatrons or whatever label applies can only muster up a fake strawman argument to defend the Messiah from telling the truth.
I'm from Missouri, live in Missouri and probably will die in Missouri.. the "Show Me" state. Obama needs to show me..

I wonder how the good people of Hawaii feel about all us mainlanders not acknowledging the fact that HAWAII IS PART OF THE UNITED STATES!
The whole issue is bizarre. I saw Megan McCain (John McCain's daughter) on a late night talk show not long ago. She said that the Repulican party was out of touch and needed to wake up or they would never come back. The birther issue is another example of that. Let go of it, people. He won legitimately. All of his credentials were checked out thoroughly. It's time to move on to MUCH more important issues.
Nana, what evidence do you have of people being bussed in to protest Obamacare at all these town hall meetings? I've see videos of a lot of protest and no busses. What have you got?

That's funny. I have yet to hear any facts or historical context out of the believers.. so how are you trying to claim the high road of logic and rational thought, and isn't logic and rational thought the same thing? How do you get there without any facts?
'Believers' don't have any more facts than anyone else because they are a BIG SECRET.. a million dollar secret.. and that's a very suspicious fact.

TC, the state of Hawaii has verified the authenticity of the birth certificate filed with the federal election commision. Would you like a personal copy or what?
As far as I can tell, President Obama is trying to move the country forward. I believe the obstruction to progress would be the Republican National Committee posturing for the 2010 congressional elections. So perhaps you could direct your disappointment with obstruction in that general direction.
Perhaps you are refering to the Orly Taitz lawsuit, which seeks to remove Obama based on claims he is not a citizen and is being funded by the RNC.
I suppose our president has no choice but to defend himself from this frivolous action.
Alas, another benefit we recieved from the Atwater/Rove tactics of the GOP is that back in the late 90's our Supreme Court, in a 5-4 party line vote, made it possible to sue the president while in office (Paula Jones v Bill Clinton). It is my understanding that up 'til that danged Bill Clinton became so popular, and the GOP had no hope in the 2000 election, it wasn't possible to sue the president while in office.

So it is admitted that there is an "original birth certificate on record." So why doesn't Obama just show the original and get on with "plenty of other, important things"?
If Obama wants to move the country forward why does he fight the release of the document? Why has he already spent a million dollars on legal obstruction? Why would he put the country through this distraction if there is nothing to hide?
This legal battle is dividing the country. It's not going to go away.. He could end it all tommorow. Why doesn't he just release it?
Hey, TC, wake up, the birth certificate in question has been produced and there is no effort to hide it.

Now a lot of people are beginning to wonder why Obama is fighting so hard to keep all of his records secret. Why would anyone spend a million dollars to keep his birth certificate a secret?
That's crazy unless there is something to hide. Where there is smoke there is fire? Why are all of his academic records a secret?
If he really wanted to put an end to all the speculation all he would have to do is produce the documents. He should do it for the good of the country..

Any of you birthing geniuses ever figure that since Obama has a valid drivers license and passport that he, at least on two occasions, produced a valid birth certificate, or certificate of live birth, which are both the same thing, to the state of issue of his drivers license and the federal government for his passport. Doh!

I really didn't have a theory to test.. but if the latest certificate is a forgery then it follows that there is a conspiracy..

I also have a black photocopy birth certificate with the doctors name, hospital, birth weight 10lb. 6 oz.! .. and it's got a raised seal. I doubt if the state has thrown out the original. I had to show it to get a job and I didn't spend a million dollars fighting the release of it. Obama also will not release any of his school records..
Third Child, when I was going through a security background check in the military I had to produce an original birth certificate. When I received it it was a certified black photo copy of the document with a raised seal from the Missouri Department of Vital Statistics. The document was not considered legal with out the raised seal. At that time you could get a certified copy of that certificate but without the raised seal it was not acceptable as proof of live birth in any legal proceedings.
Recently I had to reapply for a birth certificate for my passport to be reissued. As I don't still have the original I had to get a Certificate of Live Birth for my application. We didn't have the coping and printing technology back then that we have today. It is a daunting task for any state to archive and maintain millions of birth certificates. When you get a title issued from the State of Missouri it is a legal document. When you get you birth certificate reissued (required for identification on drivers licenses and passports) it is a computer rendering/ printing of the information cataloged by the state.
Some people still maintain possession of an original copy of their birth certificate but most don't. If you want to test your theory you can easily find your original birth certificate or pay the state to get on from their verified computer records.

UPDATE: Rep. Davis & her fellow plantiffs filed new documents in federal court demanding authentication of a new "Kenyan" birth certificate their lawyer claims to have received from an anonymous source. The document posted by 'WND' purports to have been produced by the "Republic of Kenya" on February 17, 1964. But Kenya didn't even become a republic until December 12, 1964. Even Karl Rove said over the weekend that the document is "likely a forgery."

Is it not strange that some people refuse to accept a certificate of live birth, the same document that they produce when asked to establish their identity, and their vital statistics, as proof of our President's place of birth?
Even stranger is that it is likely that many of these same people fervently believe that Jesus Christ came upon this earth with no corporeal father, and that his mother gave birth to him as an intact virgin. They believe that despite an absolute absence of any contemporary documentation whatsoever.

To all you birthers or whatever. Go to the Health Department and ask for your own birth certificate and see what you get...... You get a certificate of a live birth. You don't get the origional birth certificate. Just try and get it! Lets just see how many birthers have an official birth certificate

Oops! A certificate of live birth can also be the 'heading' of the legal document a person receives from the state in which they were born. An original birth certificate, the one filed with the state, is never released by the state.
A birth certificate is the legal document that is filed with whichever state bureau of vital statistics the birth takes place. It also must have the "raised" seal of the state on it.
A certificate of live birth is generally a complimentary document given to the parents of the newborn, much like the "foot print" certificates that Fitzgibbon and other hospitals used to give. This certificate cannot be used as a legal document to prove birth. These type of certificates might also have a "raised seal", however, they are generally the seal of the institution from which they came.
What's the difference between a birth certificate and a certificate of live birth? Sounds like the same thing, but maybe there's a technical difference?
