Thanksgiving Blessings

Posted Wednesday, November 26, 2008, at 2:07 PM

This Thanksgiving season I would like to list some of the many blessings that I am thankful for...

*For our freedoms
*For our democracy
*For our faith & the right to worship (or not) as we see fit
*For our right to vote
*For those that take an active part in our democracy
*For our free press
*For our schools & teachers
*For our family farmers
*For the nameless volunteers in our churches, civic organizations & charitable groups
*For our elected officials (of all political parties) and the work they do on our behalf
*For my family
*For my father's 90th birthday
*For my granddaughter Olivia, who will be celebrating her first thanksgiving. She will be joining my other grandchildren: Emily, Brice & Ashley at our annual gathering this weekend
*For the laughter of a child
*For my friends

The last and most important blessing is for our Veterans. To those that served, are serving or will serve. To those that will be away from their families for Thanksgiving and/or Christmas seasons. If not for the Veteran the above list would be much different and might very well not exist. This year many families will be separated from their loved ones, others will be praying and/or be by a bedside of an ill, injured or wounded veteran. There are not enough words to express the gratitude you deserve from your nation. To all of the families and these hero's, our citizen soldiers, I humbly say "Thank You and God Bless."
