The Sweet:

It's a Busch Brothers world...we just live in it!

The weekend started off with Kyle Busch winning the truck series race in Atlanta. Crazy race and I honestly still have no idea how he pulled off that win. Then just to prove he still has what it takes Kurt Busch completely dominates all day on Sunday. Word has it that Kurt is going to be calling this car Hot Rod, seems like a pretty appropriate name. I always like it when former champions step it up and show that they still have what it takes. After a pretty dismal year last year from Penske it's good to see them come home with a win. Will it last...I don't know that I'm completely convinced that they have what it takes to continue their winning ways all season.

Other guys to mention:

Martin Truex Jr.: Finished tenth on Sunday and hopped up 7 places in the point standings.

Kasey Kahne: Consistency is the key in the cup series. Wins help you out there at the end but to make the chase and have a chance to go for the cup you have to be consistent. There are many teams who have this down and find themselves in the chase year after year, Kevin Harvick, Jeff Burton just to name a few. One who just has never gotten it is the Budweiser team, Kasey can race he can win but the consistency has not been there. I am hoping that this year is different; after a shaky start at Daytona Kasey has posted a 12th, 11th, and at Atlanta he finished 7th. So here is to some consistency this year I hope it continues.

Brian Vickers: Brian had a good car all day at Atlanta and finished 5th which moved him up 6 spots in the point standings just inside the top 12.

The Sour:

Jimmy Watts...that's not a name that many of us had heard of before this weekend but with one bad move he became the topic of many a conversation. Watts is the gasman for the number 47 car driven by Marcos Ambrose. After a tire got away from his pit crew he ran out to get it. That doesn't sound like that big of a deal until you realize that there are cars on old tires running extremely high speeds all around you. Honestly I'm sure he never thought of the danger or that NASCAR would take care of it once pit stops had concluded. The caution flag was pulled immediately which caused a huge chunk of the field to be put a lap down, which was frustrating but I really don't think it changed the outcome of the race. Kurt had the car to beat and that didn't change. It did make things very interesting for a while.

**UPDATE** NASCAR has suspended Jimmy Watts for the next four races because of his actions on Sunday during the cup race.

Jeremy Mayfield and Scott Riggs are two guys who have no choice but to succeed. I only bring this up because of some interesting statements made by Jimmy Spencer this weekend on Raceday. Spencer basically said that because these guys have not qualified for the last two races they should be fired and replaced. Now I mean you could do that but that would mean that Jeremy Mayfield would be firing himself which can get awkward. The main goal of any team is to make the race on Sunday and when that's not happening everyone is pointing fingers and looking for someone to blame. Spencer jumped right to blaming the drivers and I'm not saying that it's not their fault but I think that there are a lot of things that go into not making a race. To say these guys aren't giving their all would be completely unfair to them. The level of competition in the cup series is so high that even some of the best drivers out there don't make races or make races but still don't have what it takes to compete for a win. All I'm saying is that I think it's a little early to be calling for these guys to be fired. But it was Jimmy Spencer we are talking about he is known to speak before thinking... a lot.

Alright I think that's all I have for this week. Next week we have an off week and then we are heading to Bristol.
