Two to go and Two fighting it outPosted Tuesday, November 4, 2008, at 1:07 AM

Alright so I suppose I have to be the first to admit I was wrong about Kyle. I had him pegged as the champion maybe a little too prematurely. Although I don't blame Mr. Busch at all for his fall from grace. I blame NASCAR. I've never been a big conspiracy theory person but I have to be honest and say that after this year I firmly believe that NASCAR's big spenders are calling all the shots. It is funny to me that after having a year that some would only dream of Kyle finds himself totally out of reach of a championship by the 2nd race of the chase. It is perfectly clear to me who NASCAR's golden boy is and if you watch NASCAR at all I don't think I need to name any names for you to figure out who I am referring to. What used to be Jeff Gordon's throne has now been passed down to your 2 time defending champion. Now before I get carried away I'll give Mr. Johnson his props…he can drive a car and he doesn't have a bad day, even this Sunday which is considered to be his worst race of the chase he finishes 15th, last time I checked that's a solid finish. So maybe he is just that good, that consistent…I hear that a lot on different message boards and you know maybe he is but it's funny he isn't THAT good until about 2 races before the chase starts. He turns on the magic just in time to win a championship. Someone one out there is reading this and going JEEZE someone drank a big glass of Haterade today but I promise you this isn't me being a "hater" for lack of a better word, it's me honestly wondering how on earth he does it. He could be a lap down and just when he gets into the lucky dog position (1st car one lap down) a caution comes out like some sign from the NASCAR God's that Jimmie is suppose to win the whole dang thing. He gets his lap back and ends up with a solid top 5 finish or even winning…and there I sit staring at the TV in total amazement that this sport even has any fans left. Honestly who wants to go to race when you know going into it who will win and what will happen. So when there is no one left in the stands because the ticket prices are too high and when TV ratings plummet even more than they already have know it's not because people don't care for the sport anymore it's because people don't like what NASCAR has let the sport evolve to.
Anyway I'll go ahead and step off of my soap box… Back to the chase it does seem that Jimmie Johnson will be walking away with yet another championship like it or not. Our only hope is that our very own home state hero can continue to have good races and maybe even another win and save the day in homestead. It's going to take Jimmie having a truly bad race none of this top 15 stuff and Carl keeping his nose clean. Should be interesting to see who is all pans out… I'll be watching and I'm sure I'll be commenting soon about what is to come believe me I have many more Soapbox rants, but I have to save something for the off season.

It is strange that Jimmie seems to get the lucky dog when he needs it. I am not jumping on a conspiracy bandwaggon, but there are some "debri" cautions that come out at the best time for Jimmie it does seem. Anyway, this week has actually put hope back in the chase. If Jimmie has another 15th and Carl can win, he will only be about 30 points back going into homestead. I am not saying it will happen since Phoenix is one of Jimmie's better tracks, but we can hope. Remember, Carl had a great car there in the chase last year and had engine problems. That can happen to Jimmie, or we can hope it does and then Carl can jump to the lead. I was at that race and it sucked! I was going to go this week, but didn't want to bring the same bad luck, plus almost all of the races I go to it seems Jimmie wins. No more races for me!
cjay, Thanks for seeing the race like I do. To many times things just happens in favor of Jimmie to make it believable. And when your crew cheif has to point out debri on the track then I say somehting just doesn't smell right. Anyway unless things are changed with the way the chase is handle I think they will be able to count me out. And I love NASCAR racing not the organization.
Thanks for your comments guys, its great to hear some real feed back. I think that NASCAR is listening and will try and change some things I know that many of the drivers have made their opinions known and if anyone can get through to NASCAR it would be the drivers. We will see and I agree Carl isnt out of it yet so even though he may not be my favorite all the time I'm throwing my cheers toward him for all its worth. haha
No comments on the risky move Edward's crew chief and Roush took not having him pit? What an exciting finish!! I was on the edge of my seat! (I am however a Busch hata.)
Would love to see Carl make a Nationwide / NASCAR sweep!! He's my favorite! Go Carl GO!
Your right Injesstice...I should have said something about that pit strategy, I honestly didn't think it was going to work out for him, I was like come on are you kidding me your going to run out of gas!!...but I was wrong and that's why no one pays me the big bucks haha so yeah major props to Carl and the team. I actually would rather see Kyle take the Nationwide series title (if you couldn't tell before I kind of have a soft spot in my heart for him) but I'm Carl all the way for Sprint cup it's time for a new king of NASCAR! :) thanks for the comments!!
correction Clint Bowyer is leading the Nationwide Series points...so its a shoot out of our local mid west boys. I'm hoping Clint and keep his slim edge over Carl and win it this year. He needs it he deserves it :)
It's okay...you just don't really like Carl. I'm sure you forgot because it wasn't important to you. lmao
Looks like there's just no beating Jimmy this year. D@mn shame.
What is UP with ABC cutting out with 39 laps to go? I was in and out of the room while cooking and missed this and it was all over by the time I realized I should have turned it to ESPN. I like that they don't interrupt their scheduling but come on? America's Funniest Home Vids? I coulda missed that.
I'm happy either way in the Nationwide Series. Happier if it's Carl. We do all have our favorites. ;)
Hey carrieliz -
Why don't you just give it up and come over to the "carl" side?
All the Jimmies and Kyles in the world put together ain't got half the talent (and spunk) as our man from Columbia.
How are the bearcats doing, by the way?
Any chance they may be Bama Bound again?
