Since I have been slacking off a bit we are a few weeks behind, but this should get you all caught up with the latest winners, loser, and gossip from the past two weeks.

THE SWEET and SOUR FROM NEW HAMPSHIRE:

The New Hampshire race is one I look forward to every year if for nothing else it's good for some drama and normally a pretty big shake up in the points. This year did not disappoint; although the race was rain shortened there was plenty of time for some bumping some spinning and even a surprise winner.

Kurt Busch: Just when Kurt Busch and the number 2 Miller Light team though they were destined for a pretty mediocre day they saw what would prove to be there saving grace, a hefty storm heading right for the speedway. So when the caution flag came out on lap 275 they knew there only chance for a good finish and possibly the win would be to stay out and pray that the storm would get there sooner than later. Their pit strategy worked and the rain they had prayed for came and Kurt Busch was able to steal his first win of the season. Kurt was not the only car to take the chance on the rain Michael Waltrip also stayed out and came home with a second place finish.

Kyle Busch vs. Juan Pablo Montoya: Oh what's a race with out having to mention Kyle Busch he is either winning or making some one mad and this time it was the latter. Piecing this story together is a little bit trickier than normal both drivers have different opinions on what happened as usual, the only thing they do agree on is that Juan Pablo Montoya purposely ran into and spun Kyle around under caution. Juan was held back 2 laps and that was all NASCAR saw fit to penalize him. Your guess is as good as mine as to what exactly ticked Juan off but chances are Kyle was getting a little to aggressive and Juan and his hot head felt the need to put him in his place. Juan is famous for these moves he puts not only himself but also many other drivers lives in danger and I have to say that I can't wait to see him pack up and move on out of NASCAR.

Tony Stewart: Not every driver was so happy to see the rain, after leading most of the race and having the car to beat all day Tony Stewart pitted on the last caution and it cost him his first win of the season and some much needed momentum. Their team has had some of the worst luck this year, they have been in positions to win races and have been the victims of other people's mistakes many times. This was all on them, someone wasn't watching the radar and instead of celebrating in victory lane Tony finished 14th.

THE SWEET and SOUR OF DAYTONA:

If you don't know a thing about NASCAR then you don't have a clue how big the races at Daytona are but let me tell you Daytona is where history is made and some of the most memorable finishes come from there. The drivers love to hate it and the fans drive from all over the U.S. just to be apart of a Daytona finish, yeah it's kind of a big deal. Daytona has two dates during the season the Daytona 500, which kicks off the NASCAR season every year, and the Coke Zero 400, which was this last weekend.

Kyle Busch: Now I know that some of you have expressed your disgust with Kyle but really the man is unstoppable. Kyle took home his 6th win this season on Saturday night. Although I have to throw out some props to home state boy Carl Edwards who was giving Kyle a run for his money on those closing laps before the caution was thrown which ended the race. Love Kyle or hate him you have to at least admit he has some amazing talent, more talent than I've seen in a long time, move over Jimmie Johnson…Kyle is taking this championship!

Martin Truex Jr.: Truex's car was confiscated before qualifying at Daytona. Truex was docked 150 driver points, and DEI lost 150 owner points. Crew chief Kevin Manion and the car chief, Gary Putnam, were suspended from the next six Sprint Cup Series events, and placed on probation until Dec. 31. Additionally, Manion was fined $100,000. Truex's car was found to be in violation of 3 different rules, Sections 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock car racing); 12-4-Q (car, car parts, components and/or equipment used do not conform to NASCAR rules); and 20-3.8-A (roof of the car does not conform to the specifications). DEI is appealing this ruling and the teams crew chief and car chief are being allowed to travel with and perform normal duties until the appeal goes through on July 24th.

RANTS RAVES AND GOSSIP:

After the New Hampshire race Chip Ganassi owner of Ganassi Racing made the announcement that he would be dissolving one of his teams, Dario Franchitti the driver of the number 40 was that unlucky team. Ganassi stated that it was just to expensive to support a team that wasn't supporting it's self, and it's not fair to his other teams to keep them around. Ganassi has been struggling over the past few weeks to try and keep a primary sponsor for Dario's team. Dario suffered a broken ankle early in the year and could not drive a few weeks and his on track performance never really took off either. Franchitti's future in NASCAR is unclear right now, although I don't think this will be the last of him.

Tony has finally made up his mind! After months of speculation (although not near as bad as the Dale Jr. Watch of 2007) Tony Stewart has decided to part ways with Joe Gibbs Racing and take the position of part owner and driver at Haas CNC. Although I hate to see Tony leave Gibbs and his crew chief Greg Zipadelli I think it is the best thing for him. You can tell that he just isn't the same Tony, his personality and even track performance has been lacking this year. He needs a change and I think the opportunities at Haas CNC will help Tony step up and show NASCAR what he is really about.

Last but not least Mark Martin has announced that he will be leaving DEI and joining Hendrick Motor Sports for the next two years. The most exciting thing about this move is that the old man is back full time! I truly hope that he can finally get the championship year that he has been chasing for all these years. With Hendrick power he should defiantly be able to give it a good shot, I can't wait to see how things shake up with him in the mix at HMS. Maybe he can show those jokers some class… (Oops did I let that slip, Sorry HMS fans.

Some really great news, I'm happy for Tony and hope he gets back to the old Tony! I am more than happy that Mark is going to a team that might provide him some backing. Next season is looking up already and if NASCAR backs off and lets the drivers have some freedom who knows what excitement might happen.
