Happy Christmas

It's almost Christmastime. Everyone's in the spirit and feeling the magic. The city is decorating, and it's getting colder. It's all set. Remember our loved ones, family, friends. Remember our lost ones and remember our troops.

John Lennon had a great work in Happy Christmas (War Is Over). It was an inspirational song about the Vietnam War. Lennon, with Yoko Ono, protested this war and brought about the message of peace to the country and the world. War is over...if you want it.

If you aren't familiar with the song, here is a sample of the lyrics:

So this is Christmas
And what have you done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
And so this is Christmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young

A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear

The children singing the catchy tunes in the background are the Harlem Community Choir, as credited. Lennon pushed this message around the world. He and Ono purchased ad space on many billboards, projecting their missive for everyone.

I have a dear friend, Amy Woody, overseas in Iraq. She has been there for the last four years or so. She was able to come home for a short time in May, but I'm afraid this will be another Christmas she is away from us. I pray for her and miss her, and I know she is wishing everyone a Happy Christmas!

And so happy Christmas
For black and for white
For yellow and red ones
Let's stop all the fight

Our family misses Amy as well. She's like another little sister for me. I used to not see my sister without Amy. And she almost always makes sure to stop by and visit when she's back. She is always in our thoughts and prayers. Love you, Amy!

Hey Jess,

Just thought I would say hello. I didn't even recognize you. It's Bo, Larrys brother. I am currently in Kosovo. My wife told me you worked for the Marshall Paper. Anyway I hope you and your family had a good holiday season. I will be home sometime next year.

Bo

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of our women and men in the armed forces protecting our freedoms day and night. God bless you all and your families for their sacrifice as well as yours. I also would like to put a question to your readers, I love the Christmas music of Lennon, Elvis and Ives, however, I have not heard any new stuff that comes anywhere close to comparing. Am I missing out?
